HAVING had a go at the Bay City Rollers for putting out low standard pop, it would be natural to imagine that the new album from Smokey was something of a gem and gave them cause for their unprovoked attack on Britain's most popular band. How disappointing it is to discover that Smokey don’t have a leg to stand on, because their new album “Pass It Around” is nothing like you might expect it to be. Apart from their good, good vocal sound, the rest falls short. The group only manage to sound like a second rate Beatles copy with some shades of the Dave Clark Five thrown in (remember them?) Their music has little substance and gradually becomes a bore after hearing the first few tracks.
Recorded well enough but played and performed badly in places, the album is a non-event. Smokey have no recognisable sound as yet, but when they find it, good luck to them. We bear no grudges here but only suggest that the next time this band feel like taking verbal shots at anyone, it’s probably better if their guns are loaded.

В их музыке мало содержания, и после прослушивания первых нескольких треков становится скучно.
Альбом прилично записан, но местами плохо сыгран и исполнен, и событием он не стал. У Smokey пока нет узнаваемого звучания, но когда они его найдут, удачи им. Мы не держим здесь обид, а только предлагаем, что в следующий раз, когда эта группа захочет кого-то обругать, надо лучше подготовиться.
