SMOKIE: "The Other Side Of The Road" (RAK SRAK 539)

Smokie are as depressing as dandruff and "The Other Side Of The Road" is affected by their usual commercial dullness.
Titles include "London Is Burning" and "You Don't Care", though don't expect to see them on TOTP looking like a bunch of Roxy rejects. "London Is Burning" is not, you'll be relieved to learn, a carve-up of the Clash classic, but the sort of doomy vagueness that a trivial troupe like Smokie tacks on at the end of side one and hope that the unintelligent among us are duped by the phoney 'experimental' aura.
Smokie have found themselves a successful formula and, as a means of making money, I can't really blame them for sticking to it.
